I'm working on it!!!
I am working on creating two blogs...one will be a family blog and one will be a ministry...school blog.
I will INVITE you to the family blog, and I will make the school's blog open to anyone. so....hang in there. I am working on it. If you are interested in our family blog, let me know so I can add you to our list. Write me...karencaba68@gmail.com.
We are planning a trip to san pedro this weekend...so I might not have time to post until next week.
I will tell you that our trip was wonderful and it was wonderful to be home in the US.
Edson is slowly getting into spanish again. After speaking to his teacher in English, she finally pulled him aside and said...Edson, you have to speak in spanish like before you left to go to the united states.
He looked at her and tried to say what he was thinking very slowly, but he did it.
Weather wise, its been cold ever since we got here. We are two weeks away from spring, so I hope it warms up a little bit.
Okay...I will post more in a bit.

National Anthem

Here in Paraguay the National anthem is sung at school like the Americans say the Pledge of Alligence (not sure how to spell this right now, sorry). The kids are taught to stand up straight with their arms down to the side. One is supposed to be face forward and very serious. During our school program last week celebrating our 200 yr. Independence Day. I happened to look over to my right where the pre-school group was standing. Some movements distracted me from the solemness of the National Anthem.
Sorry...I just had to break the rules of respect for the National Anthem and film this!
I told Edson that we could laugh about it this time...but he cannot EVER do this again during the National Anthem.

T-Shirts
Brandon designed this t-shirt for our high school's camp...it says...Daniel 11:32b (English Standard Version)
...but the people who know their God shall stand firm and take action.
Since we are celebrating Paraguay's bicentennial I thought he did a good job including the colorful flag.
If you want a shirt, let me know, they are selling them for his graduation. I can bring you one for $10! ;)

Mommy, I'm scared of the rain!
"Mommy, I'm scared of the rain!"
Edson got out of bed at 6:20am. It was raining really hard and the usual thunder and lightning as well. I said, "go back to bed. there's nothing to be scared of. you NEED to go back to sleep."
My words were just NOT comforting to him. "No, come with me" he insisted.
I was...kind of...busy...you know, looking for a certain recipe on the internet...
But...I got up and took him to my bed to cuddle with him.
We watched, together, the "blue and purple explosions" of lightning and hugged each other even more when we heard the thunder. He was safe and satisfied. Somebody big was protecting him from this scary storm.
While I was waiting for him to fall back asleep, I started thanking God for hugging me, protecting me and keeping ME safe and satisfied througout all my life's storms. How many times have I gone to God begging for His presence to stay with me and comfort me.
He's NEVER too busy to hear me call. He's NEVER too ocuppied.
Edson teaches me so much about God's love and grace.

Pray for Paraguay!
Yesterday's news...in FoxNews Latino. Lots of people are getting sick with Dengue. The eight year old that died on Saturday night lived 5 miles from us and her family was a friend to our relatives in Ñemby. She started getting flu like symptoms Saturday afternoon and just started getting worse and worse. When they took her to the hospital she had internal bleeding and soon after, died.
Pray for my family, the school kids and teachers. Lots of people are complaining about stomach aches and lots of kids are absent from school.
Some people are cancelling trips to Paraguay because of the dengue epidemic!
PRAY!

Our Big Day!
Today is our Big Day! Edson is going to Pre-school! We are so excited! He couldn't sleep last night talking about it. We have bags full of supplies that the teacher asked for! (I wonder if they are even going to use it all?) All this week he has been sleeping in since pre-school is in the afternoon...no naps for ever more!
His teacher is NoemÃ...he says No-me-Ã...which sounds kind of funny in Spanish.
I am always wondering if HE is going to cry or if I am. ;)

Ostrich meat prices...
check out this ostrich site...Hmmmm, I have some pretty expensive meat here! I better get working on it...Ostrich hamburgers, Ostrich empanadas, Ostrich spaghetti...
P.S. Thanks for the meat grinder, Martha.
Ostrich Stew???

So...here I am, taking a break from all my visitors to look up recipes for Ostrich Stew! Four guys went hunting with Isaac for two days and they brought back some deer and ostrich meat. Brandon was very excited and asked me to cut it up and put it in the freezer. I kind of didn't want to even touch it, but I did eventually get out my sharp knife and I started wacking away at this - 5 Xbigger than a chicken thigh- thingy.
The guys were almost eaten alive by mosquitoes and really roughed it for a whole two days with bad sleeping conditions and all. But, they did enjoy a good venison barbecue.
So, I am wondering how to cook up this ostrich meat. Does anyone have any recipes?

US Work Team

Our work team has been painting inside and outside at the school and they have been waiting patiently for our Paraguayan people to come to start building together. The people in this laid-back culture took time out for the holiday weekends and left our group kind of stranded. Today at 9 am they were supposed to be there with all the equipment! We hope!We took a day off last week to visit the Iguazu Falls. It was a very hot, crowed day, but every time we go there...it is a reminder of God's greatness and power! The work of His hands is always amazing no matter how many pictures I have of the same thing!
