Pomegranate

Another summer fruit...Pomegranate.
Ours is not the very sweet kind. Personally, I don't like it very much since it is a little bit bitter, but some people do. We have two shrub-trees, both have the same kind of fruit. When it's ripe, it splits open. It is dry and you can pluck the seeds out, stick them in your mouth like tic-tacs and suck the fruity part off the seed.

OK!! Now I'm REALLY jealous!
I would love to play with pomegranates and come up with some good recipes. But I can't afford more than 2 or 3 at a time and Jordan eats those before I get a chance to play.

heidiannie. Did you read that article from the link I posted? I never knew it was so healthy! Maybe I'll eat more even though they are so bitter...or at least make juice out of them! How much do they cost? Come play with them here!

Yes, I did read it! And I already knew about the health benefits- they are sold along with the fruit here in the States!
Pomegranates can cost anywhere from $2.50 to 3.50 a piece- and we really like to eat them to I don't have the opportunity to use them. Although I love Persian cooking and have a bottle of pomegranate syrup to use in sauces and marinades.
I wish I could come and play some summer/winter with you- but no cliff climbing- just fruit and cheese and bread making!

We have only just eaten them also (and dropped the kernels (?) and made spectacular red splashes on the floor). Dianne's girls call them pomegrandmas.

Liz beat me to the "pomegrammas" that Lily and Maci call them.
I wondered why you can't make them into a pomegranate-lemonade drink since you have both fruits? It's added to 7-UP here at Christmastime for a limited time only. Try it and make your own recipe.
