Flowers

I don't know the name of this flower in English. I tried to check it out this morning online, but I couldn't find anything on it. It is called Joya del Jardin (Garden Jewel) in Spanish. There are yellow ones and wine colored ones. This picture is taken at our house. It is one of my favorites since it spreads rays of hope and beauty.
Does anyone know what this flower could be called in English?

The leaf and the secondary flowers remind me of Salvia which is native to Brazil. Is this a shrub? I tried looking it up in a pereniel book and I couldn't find it- but unless it is self seeding it probably isn't an annual either. I've tried several different sources but no matches.
Sorry.

Yes, it is a shrub and the flowers grow all year long. Usually they are little and rounded, but I have seen some HUGE plants that are about 4 or 5 feet tall.
