At this point, my only motivation was the sound of waterfalls "just around the corner". Yes, I could hear it but all I could see were the rocks, vines and plants all around. By now, we were soooo sorry we didn't listen to the ranger. Those bags of food were so heavy and who wanted to eat anyway! We scraped our bottoms sliding under vines and down the huge boulders. I was thinking of my physically-fit sister who would have been able to jump down this path in no time. Cerro Yaguarón is a sinch compared to this! I made up a million sermons in my head while I wiggled my way down reminding myself that I will reach "paradise"!
Down at the bottom, things were looking better, but we still had to cross the creek and many more rocks to reach our destiny. On the way, I was slapped with a plant that instantly burned my skin just seconds before my friend warned me of it. (Now, after three days, it turned into poison ivy type blisters and itches especially at night.) The boys started coming back to get our bags...yes, they were hungry! They kept saying, "Mom, hurry, you've got to see this...Brandon is already jumping off the falls!"
I was hurrying so fast, but my legs were trembling. The rocks were all slippery because of the wetness. Huge spider webs with huge spiders were quietly stretched across the path. My poor-bare-feet were tired and sore...and finally...we were there! We FINALLY reached the falls!

And was it Paradise?!! I'm glad your family was happy to see you- although it sounded more like they were happy to see the FOOD! Climbing down cliffs in your bare feet is very adventuresome and rather crazy looking at the size of those spiders! Oh my Goodness- I'd wear thick boots and stomp on every spider I saw!
Was the food good? Was the water cool? Did you swim? Were the falls beautiful? (just encouraging you along here...)
Why in the world did you stop to take a picture of a SPIDER?!?! I would have kept running away from them. Yuk.
Ready for the next chapter ...
(This is kind of fun!)
What did the falls look like??
You make an interesting story!
Did you get picures of the boys in the water? Did you "jump" in the falls? As for the spiders, a good wack with a shoe would have taken care of them...if you had shoes, that is. And for little Edson, at his age, kids don't even know what fear is.
(Then they grow up and learn all of ours!) The scenery is beautiful.
I can't believe the food didn't go with the boys to begin with!
I love your mini-chapters, though. The pictures in your book make it such an adventure!
Where did you lose your Crocs this time? Or did you just take them off?
OK, I'm onto the next chapter.....
