Well, today, I’m home with the boys! Gaby has been sick since Saturday and we took him in to the doctor on Monday night since we couldn’t get his fever down. He’s on antibiotics and missing two days of school! He is surely enjoying himself. I am just worried about all the make-up homework he’ll have to do. Edson has had a cold for about 3 weeks. We have been blessed to have such a healthy baby. Since he has never been sick, he absolutely hates taking medicine. Medicine time turns into a major battle. He loves drinking fresh herb teas, though. Oscar, my home-remedy, medicine man, makes the whole family herbal drinks for coughs, runny noses, etc. Oscar, who should also be home resting and nursing his own cold and cough, is running around after this and that for school, the prison ministry, and other errands. (I’m not going to even explain his job with the prison ministry this time. You wouldn’t believe it even if I wrote it up well. It has something to do with a dead guy, a cemetery, and paperwork.)
Anyway, usually we are praising God for our great health, and now we are praying for the Physician’s Hand to touch our family and our ailing bodies so we can enjoy the beauty of springtime.

I feel for you in the medicine for Edson area! That has to be awful! After Timothy's surgery, it was sheer torture to get him to take some pain killers because it hurt so bad. He refused to swallow, so no medicine. No medicine equals more pain. The cycle went on. I hope Edson, Gaby and everyone else can get over the yukky stuff soon and that Oscar isn't traumatized by his dead guy-cemetary-paperwork responsibilities!
oh Karen, you can't NOT tell us about Oscar's job now!
Sorry to hear about all the sickness. It's great that you've not experienced much with Edson. I was just reading about some herbs yesterday, getting ready to dry and freeze some...do you have oregano down there? It is EXCELLENT for colds and coughs! Haven't tried it for that personally, but I've read it in three different herb books!
And it is sooo weird reading about experiencing spring right now!!!
Linda, once Brandon did an herb project and we found over 20 in our back yard. But, I do have oregano, mint, lemon grass, rosemary, and others. I just know them in guarani. I haven't figured out their names in Spanish so I can't even translate them to English to see what they are.
I want to hear the dead guy story!
The dead guy story has to come out. Remember, you grew up by a cemetary, and there are plenty of stories you guys told your friends. Even to the extent of re-naming our family with cemetary names. Love, Mummy
What! This is crazy! things like this would never even HAPPEN in the normal world. this dead guy thing has been going on for over a year! I'm sure you'll be horrified as much as I am! I still am thinking...is this something I really want to post?
YOU may not want to post it, but WE want you to post it! Hey, you can email it to me or Liz or Mar and we'll post it for you!
Kar, how about if you'd go online to find pictures of herbs to see what they are in spanish? I was just looking thru one of my herb books today (while drying sage and thyme and oregano, yummy!) and they had full color photos of the herbs in flower stage so you could see what they are. I wish I remembered where I got that book...I'd pick one up for you!
