This weekend...

Travelling home from Virginia was hot and long. The beautiful scenery and playful moments with nephews made the trip fun and enjoyable.
We got to Columbus to find our relatives recovering from some ailments. Since they weren't feeling good enough to travel, I stayed an extra day to visit and play with the nieces. I made baked chicken empanadas. (I don't even make them homemade at home, but...this is special...for my brother-in-law.) Some were eaten but the rest were frozen for him to enjoy in future.
Today was a fun day. Fun with the AUNTS. Catch-up time with life, family, thoughts, beliefs...and diet coke!
The funniest thing is...their favorite place to eat out was an old trucker's stop on 585 called The Post House. We laughed at that little country restaurant our whole childhood. It was on a road where we turned to go to Orville, or Rittman or go straight to Mansfield. We passed by the Post House maybe 3-4 times a week, but never stopped there! It was a trucker's place.
Several years ago the aunts and grandma took me there and I came home surprised and telling mom where we ate and how GOOD it was. We didn't know that it just happened to be their favorite spot! Since then, we found out that even the waiter is an old family friend.
Today we ate with no hurry talking about family, life's battles with it's ups and downs, raising kids, etc. I am uplifted by their strengths and encouragement. I am thankful for them!
Good times!
My suitcases are packed. I have no more room for STUFF...just love, encouragement, and memories.

I've been thinking about you all day and wondered if you got everything shoved in! :) I was at the Post House only ONCE as a child when Grandma did her laundry in Orrville and she and I stopped there one day for ice cream. I didn't know "other" people (non-truckers) were allowed to eat there! :) Who is the family friend that waitresses there? I'll miss you, Kar! Thanks for the great week with you in Virginia!

The waiter was Bill Gleason who is engaged to someone Mom is working with and the Gleasons are old friends of grandpa. Mom wanted me to introduce myself as her daughter, but I didn't.
Yes, getting to know my younger nephews and nieces was fun.

Hey, guys. Next time any of you are around, we can all plan a Post House breakfast or lunch. The owner, Mary Brag, was Grandpa P's old friend. Her daughter, Roberta married Jeff Gleason, who is a brother to Uncle Andy's sister Shatika's husband, Neil Gleason (Ann and Emily's Dad, Di's friends from school). I have since found out that Ben Gleason, Roberta's son--Mary's grandson, working there, is engaged to Kelly, the secretary at Kids 1st. Ben and Kelly are also the custodians at the Methodist church, where our Kids 1st is located. I see them both quite often. Very nice people, and yes, he helps do the cooking at Post HOuse, and it's very good food. Small world, huh? Thanks to Aunts Heidi and Cynthia for introducing us to the Post House hospitality!!

Sometimes it takes someone who isn't all connected to introduce us to the good things around us! Robin taught me to open myself up to new experiences and people and to extend grace in all circumstances.
I really enjoyed our visit,Karen! Next time you're in the country let's go to the Heavenly Hash diner in Marshallville!
