Just Catching Up

Along with all the work to do arriving at home (make guava jelly, school meetings and stuff, getting back together with our Paraguayan friends, organizing this and that, downloading pictures, cooking for crowds...again) I have to catch up on READING my favorite blogs and WRITING my own.
Anyway, we're back home. All is well. We went 3300 km. No car problems. No document or paperwork problems. We got caught up (after 20 years) in Argentina...and now, I have to catch up on my blogging.

Pictures! El Tigre, Buenos Aires

We have been visiting the Pascal family and they took us to some islands around Buenos Aires. We went swimming in the river and had a little boat ride.

Moving On

No pictures yet! I haven't tried getting them straight from my camera.
Today we are moving on, still in Argentina, but going toward the home stretch. Yesterday we were with the Vogel family. We haven't seen each other for 20 years and all of a sudden we all have grown up kids. Our hot day was spent in a pool and in the afternoon we had the traditional "mate dulce" (sweet mate) with different types of cakes. I always wonder how they can drink hot mate-tea when it is sooo hot outside! But, when we're in Argentina...we do as the Argentines do...
moving on to Baradero today!

Argentina!

Well, we've gone 1500 km. already. We have been to this house and that one, we have slept on soft beds and hard ones, expensive meals and cheap ones, good news and sad news instantly on our Roaming system cell phone server. We went to Walmart in Argentina, smelled the aroma a Starbucks in the mall, took pictures of Burger King and McDonalds. It has been good!
We sat and cried with friends we haven't seen for 20 years and tried to catch up on our lives. We took pictures of places we worked and evangelized while in the Bible School. It's been fun!
Today we went to the islands around Buenos Aires area in a town called Tigre and swam on their sandy beaches.
We got caught in the afternoon traffic out of down-town, but the older kids were in the other car and Edson fell asleep...which made for quality time with "mi amor".
We're okay! We're having fun!
P.S. notice the time this was written and posted!

My Vacation!

Well, I am using someone else's computer, so I can't be too long...
We are visiting some "OLD" friends in Argentina. Some of these people I haven't seen for 20 years! We already travelled 1000 km...since Friday. We have had some great experiences already.
Mosquitos in Formosa and (my kids enjoyed the...) all you can eat milanesas (breaded beef).
A HUGE thunderstorm with great pictures of the whale-of-a-cloud!
Getting stuck in an old elevator...made in 1963! kind of weird-scary!
Pizza at a restaurant that has all of it's tables and chairs on the sidewalks...and, of course, LATE, LATE, LATE. (Dinner in Argentina starts at about midnight!)
( I am writing this at 10 while my host is just starting and empanada dinner ;)
Pictures later!

Waking Up!

So, we are getting ready to travel and I can't find my camera! I knew it was right beside the computer, but now it was GONE!
Yesterday Edson did not sleep "siesta". He was messing around the computer. I KNEW he took the camera, but it was after midnight when I realized it. Oscar and I looked everywhere, here and there, and everywhere and couldn't find it! I was sad, upset and frustrated at my little three year old. I couldn't wait for 8:30 to come around.
Yes, I woke him up this morning to ask him. He SOMETIMES remembers where he puts things he touches. I woke him up to ask him about the camera and ask him to help me find the camera and I found it!!!!!
...inside of one of his toy puppets! Thankfully, it was still working!
This is Edson waking up this morning.

I Need a Vacation!

What have I NOT been doing?
Ever since school ended we have been running and going, serving and cooking, cleaning and preparing, weddings, paperwork, etc., etc., etc....
So, since Christmas, hmmm, I have to back up to Christmas to see what when on in this whirl-wind life of ours...
We had Oscar's relatives over at the Quinta. It was fun! We had boxes and boxes of popsicles!
Then, more company...cousin relatives from San Pedro. Fun! Busy!
Paper work for our Paraguayan friend whose fiancé is stranded in Cuba and can only get out if she goes up to get him, marry him and bring him back. She met him after a six year scholarship studying there.
We fixed up some borrowed dresses and made a beautiful boquet of orchids, went shopping for more wedding things and spent time talking about marriage.
We committed to cooking for the youth camp this past week. That means, plan, buy, and prepare the food...Saturday-Wednesday!
All the while...we were trying to get our friend up to Cuba and, finally, Tuesday morning she got a tight, flight up and was delayed 2 hours in Paraguay. Cuba is such a difficult country to communicate with and we finally got word that she is with her dear and is planning a wedding, I think maybe tomorrow.
The car needs fixed, clothes washed, (no electricity in half of the house...the half that has the washer...hmmmm, weird!) More cousins, here, after camp.
I think I'll go to the Quinta and use their huge trays for a couple of homemade pizzas!
Vacation time is coming...soon! Yeah!
